This design mingles a pineapple motif taken from an Elizabethan wall painting with a leafy German Renaissance trellis. Blue crowns punctuate the interstices. I created this design for the Queen’s Coronation festival, hand stencilling it onto silk cushions that were sold at Fortnum & Mason, London in 2013.
Painted on fine slubby silk in pastel hues using several stencils. The reverse is a luxurious pale amethyst velvet and on each corner there is a cluster of 3 glass beads
This large cushion is discounted because of smudges stencilling on the top left pineapple. Whilst I usually allow for such imperfections as part of the hand painted “signature” I thought this one didn’t quite cut the mustard.
The fabric is painted with light-fast, washable fabric paints.
Recommended gentle hand wash, spot clean or dry-clean (remove pad first).
Some fading may occur after several washes, softening the hand painted character of this piece.
Front: 100% silk
Back: 100% cotton pile velvet
A zip runs along the bottom
